Sydney show: VW Caravelle debuts

GERMAN giant Volkswagen showcased its all-new Caravelle people-mover in Sydney, with the Multivan T5 making its first public appearance outside Europe.

Again set to comprise a Transport commercial van variant, the new Caravelle range will feature a 2.5-litre V5 turbo-diesel with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Originally due on sale in February, the new Caravelle will now lob here in April. Pricing has not been revealed.

VW also previewed a revised Polo range due on sale this week, featuring the likes of ABS, twin airbags and climate control across the range to match rivals from Citroen (C3) and Peugeot (206).
