IT IS not every day that boundaries are pushed as emphatically as they have in the one-tonne light truck class, thanks to the all-new Volkswagen Amarok. With safety, driveability, comfort and refinement on an equal footing to strength, durability and capability, the Argentinean-built German ute deserves to go a long way against the Toyota HiLux/Nissan Navara/Mitsubishi Triton stalwarts. They had better beware, because – although limited in range with just one body style and no auto/petrol options until later in 2012 – the Amarok shapes up big time.
