THE new RAV4 is bigger than ever before, with the base five-door Edge model 80mm longer, 20mm higher and 40mm wider. RAV4's wheelbase has also increased 80mm on both body styles, to 2490mm in the five-door and 2280mm in the three-door. The exterior is more aerodynamic, with a coefficient of drag now 0.35. Styling features include multi-reflector headlights and an inverted V-shaped grille and an unusual step at the front pillar line from the wheel arch to the bonnet. Side cladding is now reduced to a small strip along the side panel/s. The spare wheel has been lowered to increase rear visibility and provide for easier wheel changing. Anti-corrosion steel is used in all areas except the roof and interior panels.
