The Prius sidesteps any problems with climate-control when the petrol engine is not running through the use of an electric inverter compressor. It is driven by a brushless DC electric motor using alternating current. The sustem offers a bi-level flow that provides fresh, dry external air to the upper cabin area and warm internal air to the footwells. Controls are located on the steering wheel and on the multi-display screen. A humidity sensor optimises the amount of dehumidification during air conditioner operation. There’s also a new integrated radiator assembly comprsing air conditioner condenser, engine radiator and HV radiator to optimise under-bonnet space while minimising weight.
