The Prius dash with its minimal obvious controls, no instrument pod in front of the driver, and the short shift lever jutting out to the right of the centre-dash area, helps remind the driver that this is not your average four-cylinder sedan. The digital readout speedo is located directly ahead of the driver right at the base of the windscreen, a good position for quick focussing of the eyes. It’s unusual to see an instrument panel without a tachometer, but this reinforces the Prius differences. The Centre-dash area on i-Tech variants contains the satellite-navigation screen, while basic radio controls are duplicated on dash and steering wheel. In keeping with the minimalist dash controls, more complex climate control and radio functions are controlled via the screen readout.
