TRANSMISSION choices are a five-speed manual or electronically controlled four-speed automatic, both with a two-speed transfer case. The auto features torque control during shifting, electronic torque converter lock-up, second-gear start-up, self-diagnostics and a limp-home mode. The manual transmissions for diesel and petrol versions vary, with the diesel's using lower intermediate gearing. All LandCruiser wagons have a lockable centre differential, with front and rear diff locks available as an option on six-cylinder models.
