WHILE traditional 4WDs aren't regarded as offering optimum passenger - and certainly not pedestrian - safety, the 100 Series has clearly benefited from Toyota's Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) program and has performed well in independent frontal crash tests. Likewise, it might guzzle plenty of fuel, but performance from the big Cruiser is very good and interior room - for no less than eight people - is excellent. LandCruiser has the highest levels of refinement yet seen in a full-size off-roader. Of course, off-road ability is what the LandCruiser made its name for, and the 100 Series extends its expertise in the area. Large-capacity cyclone-type air cleaners fitted across the range are evidence of this.
