DESPITE the fact that Prado has a tough ladder-frame and not passenger car-like monocoque chassis construction, Toyota claims it passes all existing and many future crash tests. The Prado uses full-time four-wheel drive for extra traction in all conditions. The use of a sub fuel tank allows a total capacity of 160 litres and a clever fresh air induction system is concealed in the double-skinned bonne. The turbo-diesel is the first Prado to use a drive by wire electronic throttle.
