THE new-look LandCruiser Prado is certified to Australian Design Rule 69 on frontal occupant protection, which became compulsory for all off-road passenger vehicles from January, 2000. Toyota claims Prado, which has a full ladder-frame chassis, passes future safety regulations including 40 per cent offset front barrier tests, rollover and side intrusion. Driver and passenger front airbags are standard on Grande. Side-impact beams are built into the doors. Front seatbelts have pretensioners and force-limiters. Three child restraint anchor points are provided in the second row seat.
