EXTERIOR changes introduced in 2001 included three new paint colours, a new and deeper front bumper with wider openings, and new radiator grilles, which increase grade differentiation. The new colours are Simpson Red, Pacific Blue and Storm Grey. Prado RV and GXL have retained a vertical black grille, with minor changes, while the Grande and VX models have a horizontal-bar chrome grille. Prado GXL, VX and Grande have front fog lamps as standard equipment. VX and Grande have a new three-spoke alloy wheel design. Exterior changes at the rear include new clear combination lamp lenses and a black-on-white rear name badge. All models have a new, easier-to-read three-dial instrument layout with electronic odometer, new seat material and improved door trims.
