LOOK hard under the skin of a Toyota 78 Series LandCruiser and you can see subtle changes in design derived from years of customer feedback and testing. And, though changes to LandCruiser don't come around often, when they do they are usually worth the wait. The move from 75 Series to 78 Series in October 1999 was certainly not a major model change but the increase in cabin size and revised suspension was a welcome improvement. With the introduction of a 4.2-litre turbo-diesel engine in November 2001, Toyota proved it is still serious about the heavy four-wheel drive market.
