TOYOTA has fitted disc brakes front and rear to all 78 Series vehicles and in doing so improved the stoppping power of these large vehicles considerably. With 322 x 22mm ventilated discs and twin-piston calipers on the front and 295mm discs with single-piston calipers on the rear, the driver now has greater feeling through the pedal and can apply the braking force more progressively - increasing driver confidence the vehicle will stop in time and in line. Toyota does not offer an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as an option on 78 Series models, which is dissapointing, as a vehicle of this size and load carrying capacity could benefit from such technology.
