HiLux diesel gains an extra 6kW

THE 3.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine available on Toyota’s HiLux one-tonne ute has come in for a minor upgrade, with an additional 6kW of power – now peaking at 126kW – stemming from compliance with the Euro IV emissions standard.

The revised 1KD-FTV engine is now fitted to all HiLux diesel models, having started from August production.

A host of other detail changes have also kicked in with HiLux petrol and diesel models, including ABS brakes becoming standard equipment on high-series SR5 models and optional on SR and WorkMate.

Furthermore, dual cab SR5 models are now fitted with a limited-slip differential, a feature also available on the SR (with the ABS option).

The SR5 has had the deck guard frame removed in an effort to improve its appearance, while at the same time picks up front foglights and a sports bar.
