THE sedan version of Toyota's stylish, upright Echo loses the visual charm of its three and five-door equivalents. But it does pick up a bigger, more responsive 1.5-litre engine without suffering too much in terms of economy. So it's a spacious, handy little car that performs very well except it is not as versatile in terms of luggage carrying capacity as the hatchbacks. And the price places it above the rest of the light car class.
