AMID all the hype surrounding the exterior and interior of the Echo, the suspension is an utterly conventional MacPherson strut arrangement up front and torsion beam at the rear. The rear configuration minimises intrusion into the cargo bay. It is a compact design, consisting of two long trailing arms and a U-shaped torsion beam that houses the anti-roll bar.
