Toyota gets Edgy

The Edge specials will follow the release of the facelifted Camry this week, before the facelifted Aurion then goes on sale. ‘Tech upgrades’ for Toyota’s 70 Series, HiLux and HiAce will follow, before the all-new Prado – including the traditional five-door and, for the first time, three-door body styles – go on sale in November.
While details of the Edge special-editions are yet to be revealed, the Yaris Edge will be available in 1.3-litre hatch guise only, and with a $16,190 starting price adds $500 to the price of the entry-level YR three-door and five-door.
It is the first pricing change to the Yaris line-up since Toyota’s smallest model underwent price increases of between $500 and $800 on January 1.
Similarly, the Corolla also escaped a June 1 price increase and will be graced by an additional Edge special, based only on the hatch. Priced from $22,240, the 1.8-litre Corolla Edge five-door adds $750 to the price of the base Corolla Ascent hatch. The Corolla underwent price increases of $500 and $750 on January 1.
Corolla hatch also will get ESC stability control this year, while the sedan will follow with ESC next year.
Finally, Toyota’s RAV4, which increased in price by an average of $500 in January before going up again from June 1 - when the base price increased by $1000 to $33,490 – will also gain manual and automatic-transmission Edge specials,priced at a premium of $800 over the base 2.4-litre RAV4 CV.
