TOYOTA'S Camry is far and away Australia's favourite mid-sized sedan, outselling its closest rival – the Mazda6 – by a whopping 4492 vehicles in the first four months of this year.

The Japanese car-maker would hopefully forgive us for saying the locally built sedan is perhaps not the most exciting vehicle in the segment, but for many Australians it offers a combination of convenience and dependability that cannot be beaten.

For its final locally made revision, it would therefore make sense to alter the recipe as little as possible to maintain the loyal customer base, but the 2015 Camry has undergone a dramatic restyling and is joined in an expanded range by a new sportier SX variant.

To top it all, the range has been treated to a significant price reduction, shrinking tariffs by as much as $5000. We jumped behind the wheel to see if the ultimate update is enough to keep the Camry in its number one spot, despite dwindling mid-size segment sales.
