AVALON'S V6 engine is matched to an electronically controlled adaptive four-speed overdrive transmission, known as ECT-I. Rather than using driver-selectable power and normal shift modes, ECT-I is smart enough to adjust the shift patterns according to the driver's intentions - which it gauges through use of the accelerator. A manual transmission is not available.
