Tickford celebrates Bathurst with new TA-500 pack

IN THE lead up to this weekend’s Bathurst 1000, Ford tuning specialist Tickford has revealed its new TA-500 Performance Pack designed to elevate the driving experience of the Ford Mustang GT donor car.

Priced from $16,250, the TA-500 pack is focused more on the driving experience rather than adding sheer power with the only mechanical change being the addition of a genuine Tickford cat-back exhaust system.

All of the other changes centre around upping the Mustang’s cornering prowess and visual flair with the whole package riding 25mm lower than a standard GT.

Other changes under the skin include a front strut brace and a rear sub-frame brace for increased rigidity.

As for the styling, the TA-500 pack adds a series of ‘TA-500’ badges around the body, Tickford C stripe decal pack, TA500 engine cover and build number plate, Tickford race-inspired rear spoiler, gloss black rear deck lid panel, black mirror caps and a black Mustang Pony badge.

Rolling stock also comes courtesy of Tickford, with the Mustang GT’s standard alloys being swapped out for black 20-inch Tickford multi-spoke wheels shod with fat Michelin Pilot 4S tyres (275/35 front, 295/35 rear).

Tickford has continued its TA500 treatment inside the cabin too, adoring the interior with carbon look handbrake and gear lever boots, Tickford leather steering wheel with red stitching, Tickford leather console lid, a black gear knob (manual), Tickford TA-500 floor mats and an interior build plate.

From there though Tickford are also offering an expansive list of optional add-ons, including the addition of more firepower.

These consist of a Tickford tuned cold air intake and ECU recalibration, 700hp or 750hp Tickford Roush supercharger, upgraded brakes, height-adjustable coilover suspension, TA-500 full leather interior upgrade, functional driving lamps, GT350 style rear spoiler, sports steering wheel and retro-inspired 20-inch wheels.

“Created with the vision to bring the very best of Tickford engineered enhancements to the Mustang, the TA-500 performance pack comes standard with an enviable list of upgrades,” Tickford said in a statement.

“Each TA-500 will be built in Melbourne and will be individually numbered and come with a letter of authenticity to provide customers added confidence in vehicle resale value.”

Ford has sold 2174 new Mustangs so far this year ending September, accounting for almost half of all sub-$80,000 sportscar sales (49.8 per cent segment share).
