SUZUKI Australia did the unexpected by introducing a diesel Vitara soon after launching the equally unexpected turbocharged petrol variant.

The diesel is precisely what many SUV buyers want. It gives a longer range, more low-speed performance that can suit towing applications as well as work in slippery conditions, and there’s the presumption that these engines are more durable than petrol equivalents.

The specifications of the petrol-fuelled S Turbo model and this RT-X diesel are very similar. For more detail on the Vitara, see the S Turbo review. For the diesel, read on.
