Suzuki recalls Ignis

BY CHRIS HARRIS | 8th Dec 2006

SUZUKI Australia has announced a safety recall for 3045 examples of its Ignis hatch following overseas reports that the front passenger airbag failed to deploy properly under certain circumstances.

According to Suzuki, the problem was first detected by Suzuki Motor Corporation and has since been rectified on the production line.

However, Australian owners of Ignis models built between March 2003 and October 2004 will be notified and should contact their nearest authorised Suzuki dealer after receiving their recall notification advice.

"This recent problem is regrettable, but we hope that this quick and comprehensive action reaffirms to customers, Suzuki's commitment to their satisfaction in the high levels of quality inherent in Suzuki products," said Suzuki Australia managing director Takeshi Hayasaki said on Wednesday.

Concerned Ignis owners can also contact Suzuki Australia's customer care division, on 1800 777 088, or by e-mail at safety@suzuki.com.au.

Holden’s Ignis-based Cruze is not affected by the recall.
