THE Ignis is powered by a 1.3-litre, all-alloy, multi-valve, four-cylinder engine. Designed with an emphasis on reduced noise and exhaust emissions, the twin cam, multi-point fuel-injected engine develops 60kW at 6000rpm and 106Nm at 4500rpm. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system introduces fresh air into the crankcase to expel wasteful blowby gasses. These gasses then flow out of the cylinder head into the intake manifold and are burned off during normal combustion, reducing the amount of oil consumed by the engine. This has the environmental benefit of both cleaning up the combustion process and reducing the consumption (and therefore frequency) of oil changes.
