Blitzen comes to Oz

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 5th Jun 2006

THE hotly awaited special-edition Liberty Blitzen has arrived in Australia for the first time, priced from $53,980.

Available now in sedan and wagon bodystyles and with manual and automatic transmissions, the star of Subaru’s Melbourne show stand is based on the six-cylinder Liberty 3.0R spec.B.

Just 200 examples – in either bright red or obsidian black paint colours – will be available, priced at a $3000 premium over the 3.0R-B: $54,980 for the manual sedan, $57,480 for the manual wagon, $53,980 for the (five-speed Sportshift) auto sedan and $56,480 for the auto wagon.

To the garden-variety Liberty, Blitzen adds a new aerodynamic package including a honeycomb grille, deeper front and rear bumpers, side sills, unique 18-inch alloy wheels and, on wagon versions, a roof spoiler.

Blitzen also gets the 3.0R-B's 180kW/297Nm engine, Bilstein sports suspension, eight-way power driver and passenger seats, a leather-clad Momo steering wheel and 13-speaker/six-CD McIntosh audio.
