OVER three decades and four generations, the Subaru Impreza has been all things: stylish, powerful, segment-defining, world rally championship-beating, over-hyped, overpriced, ugly, under-performing, cramped, disappointing and most recently plain boring.

For its 25th anniversary, the all-new fifth-gen version can now add ‘almost complete’ to its colourful resume.

It still has a lot to prove in Australia’s competitive and often unpredictable market but the early signs say Mazda beware.
