THE Forester continues to use a rack and pinion steering system, although it now features variable gear ratios, which are claimed to provide a quicker response to large steering inputs such as parking, while offering a more direct feel for normal driving. The vehicle's turning circle has been reduced slightly from 10.8 metres to 10.6 metres, despite the increased track dimensions (+20mm) and wider tyres (215, up from 205).
