ALL Foresters offer a two-plus-three seating arrangement although, given the centre rear seating position's raised section, the rear bench is only comfortable for two adults during anything other than the shortest of trips. Airbags for driver and front passenger are standard on all Forester models, while front side airbags are optional on the higher-spec XS models and standard on the range-topping XS Luxury Pack. Mounted on the outer side of the seat backrest to provide protection regardless of seat fore/aft positioning, the side airbags also offer some head protection due to their larger size.
