SsangYong's baby Kyron ready for a Frankfurt debut

SSANGYONG has unveiled the Kyron all-wheel drive cross-over wagon.

Based on the Rexton 4WD, Kyron rests on a smaller 2740mm wheelbase and at 4660mm in overall is a tad shorter overall as well.

SsangYong Australia spokesman, Brad Leach, said the newcomer would arrive here early next year in time for a debut at the Melbourne motor show in March.

Pricing is expected to start around $30,000 for the entry level 2.0-litre turbo diesel.

Mr Leach said a high-end variant would also be offered and petrol-engine models were also on the cards.

Standard equipment levels are expected to be high, with climate control air-conditioning and hill descent control among the likely offerings.

Designed by Brit Ken Greenley, the five-door, five-seater wagon will be available with a range of (mostly Mercedes-Benz-derived) engines when it goes on sale in Europe early next year after a Frankfurt motor show outing in September.
