Sydney show: Actyon stations for SsangYong

SOUTH Korean brand SsangYong hoped to turn more than a few heads by revealing two new strikingly styled adventure models in Sydney yesterday, both of which made their Australian debuts.

First revealed at Frankfurt last year, the compact Actyon five-door SUV will be aimed directly at the likes of Toyota’s RAV4 when it joins its larger Kyron sibling on sale here around February.

Due to arrive at around the same time, depending on the run-out of its Musso utility predecessor, is the bigger new five-seater Actyon Sports dual-cab ute.

Revealed at the Busan motor show in South Korea in April, the Actyon Sports will maintain an entry price similar to that of the current Musso ute, which at $27,990 for the 2.7-litre turbo-diesel comprises a big chunk of SsangYong’s Australian sales.

Both Actyon models will be powered by either an 110kW/214Nm 2.3-litre petrol engine or a 104kW/310Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, mated to manual and auto transmissions.
