Run-out Skoda Octavia gets price cuts

SKODA Australia has announced a limited edition version of the Octavia featuring extra goodies and drive-away pricing in preparation for the arrival of the new-generation model later this year.

The Octavia Special Edition is available from $21,990 drive-away for the liftback and $23,690 drive-away for the wagon in six-speed manual guise with the option of a seven-speed DSG.

Powering the Special Edition is the 90TSI’s 1.4-litre four-cylinder unit producing 90kW, with combined fuel use of 6.7 litres per 100 kilometres and 6.5L/100km for the DSG.

This marks a $3000 saving over the 90TSI lift-back on which the Special Edition is based, while the price of the wagon is slashed by $3300 from its regular price of $26,990.

Skoda has included extra features on top of the 90TSI’s standard gear such as 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, centre armrest with storage compartment and rain-sensing wipers.

Special Editions are also fitted with a Columbus sat-nav system, with eight speakers and a 30GB hard disc while the wagon adds silver roof rails.

This is on top of the already standard cruise control, power windows, leather upholstery and an MP3 auxiliary input.

The Special Edition is available from June 1 and will continue until the model is sold out.

Scheduled for an Australian berth in the last quarter of this year, the all-new Octavia is 90mm longer and 45mm wider than the current model and is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB modular platform that underpins both the new Golf and Audi A3.

The size boost for Octavia means Skoda’s top-selling model locally will be a true mid-sizer, after straddling the small-to-medium class with the current generation.

The next-gen Octavia’s design is in line with the Czech brand’s new small car offering, the Rapid that will launch in Australia in the coming months.
