Three-pot Kamiq available again
SKODA is again stocked with 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol versions of its Kamiq small SUV. After selling out of the variant late last year, the importer of the Czech brand has secured new stock of the 85TSI Style-badged variant.
Available from $37,990 drive-away, the Kamiq 85TSI Style delivers 85kW at 5500rpm, 200Nm between 2000-3500rpm and its motor is mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Skoda says the engine’s lower reciprocating mass and effortless low-end torque provides customers with a low-emissions alternative to four-cylinder-powered rivals, with the variant’s combined cycle fuel consumption listed at just 5.4 litres per 100km.
Rivals to the entry-grade Skoda Kamiq include the newly launched Honda HR-V (from $36,700 drive-away), Hyundai Kona (from $26,900, plus ORCs), Kia Seltos (from $27,290, plus ORCs), Mazda CX-3 (from $23,190, plus ORCs), Nissan Juke (from $27,990) and Toyota C-HR (from $30,915, plus ORCs).
Compared with many of its rivals, the Kamiq 85TSI Style offers a comprehensive list of standard equipment, including 18-inch Crater alloy wheels, LED head- and tail-lights (with animated turn signal), electric tailgate, door-mounted umbrella, electric heated and folding wing mirrors with driver’s side auto dimming, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, keyless entry and start, light assist and rain-sensing wipers, privacy glass, double-sided luggage mat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED ambient cabin lighting, dual-zone climate control, digital instrument panel, a Smartlink smartphone- mirroring touchscreen infotainment system and a wireless charging pad.
Standard safety equipment includes front assist with city emergency brake, rear-manoeuvre braking assist, rear parking sensors, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, seven airbags, tyre-pressure monitoring, seven airbags and a reversing camera.
The Kamiq Style is topped by the 110TSI Monte Carlo, which is powered by Skoda’s 110kW and 250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The higher-grade variant features 18-inch Vega alloy wheels, black exterior accents, Drive Mode Select, lowered sports suspension (-15mm), adaptive headlights and cornering lights, animated front turn signals, a panoramic glass roof, plus sports seats and -pedals.
The variant is further available with the $4300 Travel Pack, which adds front parking sensors, park assist, side assist, rear-traffic alert, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel with ‘shift paddles, larger (9.2-inch) infotainment screen with built-in satnav, wireless smartphone mirroring, a premium audio system and voice control.
Finally, the Skoda Kamiq 110TSI Signature combines selected features from the Travel Pack with leather and suede combination upholstery, silver-coloured roof rails and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
A panoramic roof is available as an option on all variants ($1300), while metallic and pearlescent paint options demand a $550 premium. Velvet Red paint, in turn, attracts a $1100 premium.
Service packages include a three-year/45,000km bundle ($800), five-year/60,000km pack ($1500) and a seven-year/105,000km pack ($2100). All variants are backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranty.
