First look: Skoda Joyster test the waters

VOLKSWAGEN’S Czech brand Skoda, which for years has been mooted (and repeatedly rejected) as a prospect for Australia, will show its Joyster concept car at Paris.

A long-overdue three-door model for the marque, and a pointer to the next Fabia, the Joyster has compact dimensions and sporting looks – a combination that could see it conflict with models from VW’s Spanish brand Seat should it enter production.

Reports out of Europe suggest the Joyster uses a Volkswagen platform, so buyers can also expect a range of VW-sourced petrol and diesel engines.

According to Skoda the "latest Joyster design study materialises ideas of new forms and functions of a compact car for Skoda’s future customers and outlines the future development of familiar design elements from Skoda Auto".
