BY TERRY MARTIN | 14th Dec 2006

SKODA’S second-generation Fabia hatchback, which is expected to be part of the Czech brand’s proposed resurrection in Australia next year, has emerged ahead of its world premiere at the Geneva motor show in March.

Claimed to be one of the biggest and roomiest vehicles in its class, the new Fabia will be offered in Europe with head airbags, climate-control air-conditioning, a five-speed manual gearbox or six-speed automatic transmission – and no less than seven engines.

Comprising four petrol engines and three diesels, the new Fabia's under-bonnet highlights will include a 77kW 1.6-litre petrol and a 77kW 1.9-litre TDI.
