Simcoe waves his Saturn wand

BY NEIL MCDONALD | 12th Apr 2006

GENERAL Motors will unveil its new-look Saturn model range in the Big Apple next week.

The range includes an all-new Aura mid-sized sedan, Outlook eight-seat crossover wagon and an upgraded Sky Red Line roadster – complete with a 194kW 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine.

All the Saturns are making their world debuts at the New York motor show, which opens to the public on Friday, April 14.

The trio will form a key part of GM’s North American turnaround plan, while a still-secret concept vehicle will demonstrate how the brand’s new design creed – now being developed by former Holden design director Mike Simcoe – will continue on future vehicles.

Will there be a distinctly Australian influence on Saturn design? Stay tuned.
