Saab flags 9-3 wagon

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 17th Oct 2005

THE all-new Saab 9-3 SportCombi makes its first Australian appearance today.

Fresh from rave reviews in Europe, the SportCombi goes on sale here early next year as the third variant in the Swedish range.

Two models will be available, a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and top-of-the-line Aero with a turbocharged 184kW/350Nm 2.8-litre V6 engine mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed auto with a sequential-manual mode.

Styling extends the sedan theme, with the beltline rising toward the wagon’s thick D-pillar, finishing in frosted vertical rear taillights and an integrated rear roof spoiler.

Among its features are a large, flat load area with cargo tie-downs, lightweight tailgate with neatly concealed hinges, 60/40 split rear seatbacks and an innovative "TwinFloor" storage area under the floor.

Pricing will be confirmed close to the launch date.
