BUDGET-MINDED shoppers looking for a prestige four-passenger convertible find plenty of appeal in Saab's 9-3. This is no real surprise, considering the BMW 328i convertible asks for a premium of about $34,000 over the base Swedish car.

A smooth, hydraulic roof, peppy low-pressure turbo engine, comfortable interior and high levels of safety - added to the unquestioned cache that comes from being the right convertible to be seen in - all make the Saab an undeniable choice in the open-air cruiser segment.
