THE 9-3 is available with a five-speed automatic transmission, or with an Aisin Warner four-speed electronically controlled automatic. The manual benefitted signficantly with the adoption of a hydraulically operated clutch in the switch from 900 to 9-3. The adaptive automatic offers two modes of operation, and is able to "learn" individual driving styles.
