THE 9-3 Aero convertible is the top-shelf model in the new range of mid-size Saabs. Like the new 9-3 sedans, it is a huge leap forward for the company. Its tight body (for a four-seat convertible), distinctive style, high levels of safety and Swedish interior are going to please those wishing to step up from their old soft-top Saabs - and there’s a little more room inside too. The 155kW Aero version points more accurately and rides more firmly than the regular 9-3 convertible but is not especially fast, despite the turbo engine’s extra 26kW and 35Nm of added torque. As befits a show-pony convertible, it looks the part even if it doesn’t convincingly act it.
