The 9-3's suspension was improved over the 900 with longer front travel and changes to the steering, including a faster ratio and more power assistance. The system comprises front MacPherson struts and a twist-beam semi-independent arrangement with coil springs and inner and outer anti-roll bars at the rear. The Aero uses stiffer (gas) dampers to sharpen steering response.
