SAAB has been a little backward in recent years applying traction control systems (TCS) to its turbocharged cars. It was dropped from the 9000 Aero in the 1990s. The top of the line 9-5 Griffin was the first to get it back, in 1999. Now it's fitted to 9-5 Aeros and to the 9-3 Aero. The system monitors and reduces wheelspin on the driven wheels individually by controlling the brakes and the electronic throttle. The 9-3 also uses electronic brake force distribution (EBD) to deliver appropriate pressure to wheels with most grip.
