AN ADAPTIVE five-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment on the Rover 75 Connoisseur, optional on the 75 Club sedan. Unlike most of the 75's prestige sedan rivals, there is no sequential manual shifting function, but there are three shift programs: Normal, Sport or Winter mode. Final drive is 3.89 - slightly taller than the manual's at 3.944. The auto transmission offers highly refined shifting, both up and down through the ratios, but is let down by a reluctance to downshift on demand. An electronic traction control system is offered as standard.
