First look: Rinspeed shows Senso

SWISS automotive design specialist Rinspeed has displayed its Senso concept that uses biometric data to "sense" the driver’s mood and then alter it if necessary through visual and olfactory stimuli.

Oranges and yellows stimulate, as do citrus and grapefruit smells, while blues and greens and vanilla and mandarin odours calm.

A vibration in the seat is activated if a computer senses that the driver is tired.

A special wristwatch measures the driver’s pulse while a camera records his or her behaviour, be it erratic or relaxed.

Complementing this is interior dashboard panelling with dazzle-free ambient lighting from electro-luminescent film.

The body uses carbon-fibre panels and the driver is placed centrally, flanked by two passengers behind.

Bragging a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds on the way to a 250km/h top-speed, the Senso’s power is delivered employing a Porsche Boxster S 3.2-litre boxer six-cylinder engine tuned to use either petrol or natural gas for lower emissions.
