Requiring premium unleaded fuel to deliver its best, the engine is claimed to reach 100km/h in 11.9 seconds (compared to 10.2 seconds for the front-drive Scenic). The additional 150kg-odd on the RX4 also makes its presence felt on official fuel consumption figures, which point to 11.8L/100km in the city - a litre more than the Scenic - and 8.2L/100km on the highway, where the Scenic is said to sip 6.4L/100km.
