RENAULT Australia has introduced the Megane Hatch Sport Edition, a limited-edition special based on the entry-level Dynamique petrol variant.

Just 115 of the special editions will be sold in this market priced from $23,990 plus on-road costs for the six-speed manual ($2000 extra for the CVT automatic) – a $1000 premium on the standard model.

For the extra outlay, buyers get a claimed extra $1800 of value, including 17-inch Schuss black and silver alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, fog lights LED daytime-running lights, a redesigned front grille insert, and leather steering wheel and gear knob.

The Sport Edition is also available in a special Prussian Blue metallic paint (pictured).

The standard petrol powerplant is unchanged, still producing 103kW of power and 195Nm of torque and consuming 7.9 litres per 100km (8.2 for the manual).

As with all Renault passenger cars (excluding RenaultSport versions of the Megane and Clio), the special edition is covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with five years of roadside assistance.

The Megane range is comfortably Renault’s biggest-selling model in Australia, comprising 38.6 per cent of its sales in the first half of this year. The French car-maker has sold 771 units of the hatch, RS Sport and convertible combined for the year – up more than 20 per cent on last year.

Renault Australia sold 540 vehicles last month, its best result since it returned Down Under in 2001.
