DESIGNED to conform to international safety standards, the structure of the Megane cabriolet is complemented by an optimised occupant restraint system. This includes the airbags and programmed restraint safety belts equipped with pyrotechnic pretensioners. The combined action of these features allows the force on the thorax to be reduced, limiting as far as possible the danger of injury in a frontal impact. The cabriolet also provides head/chest side airbags as standard for front seats and three-point seatbelts with load limiters for all four occupants. The front seat headrests use a close-contact design. Reinforced windscreen mounts help maintain structural integrity in the case of a rollover.
