First look: Renault updates Laguna

BY TERRY MARTIN | 1st Mar 2005

RENAULT has unveiled its facelifted Laguna at the Amsterdam motor show.

Due for release in Australia later this year, the medium-sized sedan has a revised front-end (grille, bumper, bonnet, headlights, etc), new tail-lights, a higher standard of finish in the cabin and easier-to-use controls on the redesigned centre dash stack.

An automatic park brake and the latest airbag and occupant restraint technology also debut.

A GT 205 (205hp) sports version featuring a 150kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbo engine, 17-inch rims, 10mm lower ride height and sports-flavoured exterior details is, alas, not expected to make it to Australia.

The naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine and 3.0-litre V6 are unchanged.
