Renault retrofits smartphone mirroring on Koleos

RENAULT Australia has announced a locally developed $486.40 Apple CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit kit for its Koleos medium-sized SUV, the first arm of Renault to do so.

Available as of December 19, the kit has been specifically designed for the Koleos II – produced before September 2017 – and involves changes to both the hardware and firmware of the infotainment system, taking just over an hour to install.

The kit is the result of an extensive period of validation testing on company and customer vehicles in 2019.

Renault Australia aftersales and quality director Matthew Wright said the recent announcements of mobile phone detection cameras being rolled out in some states made the kit even more timely.

“We are incredibly excited to be able to offer this Apple Carplay/Android Auto retrofit kit which will ensure more Koleos owners than ever before will be able to stay entertained and in touch with contacts in the safest way possible while driving their vehicle,” he said.

“This retrofit kit is being launched globally first in Australia and is a direct result of the team at Renault Australia wanting to ensure that Renault vehicles are fitted with products that continue to provide drivers with an easy life in an ever-increasing technology driven marketplace.”

Renault says it will use database to reach out to eligible vehicle owners early next year but customers are welcome to converse with their preferred dealerships directly regarding eligibility and booking.
