Melbourne show: Renault to go Koleos

BY JAMES STANFORD | 3rd Mar 2008

RENAULT Australia presented the Koleos concept car at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on Friday. Due to arrive here next year, the production Koleos will be built in South Korea by Renault-Samsung. It is built off the Nissan X-Trail platform, which means it should have reasonable off-road capability. Renault Australia also presented the sleek new Laguna hatch which it will start selling this June.

A wagon version of the Laguna will join the range later in the year, most likely around September. The new Laguna is significantly larger, but lighter, and more luxurious.

The new Laguna will be launched with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, the 2.0 dCi produces 110kW at 4000rpm and 340Nm at 2000rpm. A petrol engine will join the range later in the year.
