Renault turns up the volume on Koleos

RENAULT has partnered with audio-visual brand Bose to create a special edition of its Koleos SUV.

The Koleos Bose Special Edition kicks off at $34,990 for the 2.5-litre petrol two wheel-drive, a $500 premium over the mid-spec Dynamique model on which it is based.

Those willing to part with the extra money are rewarded with a state-of-the-art Bose sound system that features a digital amplifier, seven speakers and subwoofer hooked up to an MP3-compatible CD player with steering wheel controls.

Renault says the Bose sound system has been “tailor-engineered” for the cabin of the Koleos and claims it delivers “a standard of precision and realism that replicates a live performance”.

On top of the audio system, the French car-maker has included interior flourishes such as a carbon-fibre look for the gear knob and window switches, grey stitching on the steering wheel and door panels, piano black trim around the air vents and centre console, floor mats and Bose interior badging and kick plates.

The Bose Special Edition gets 17-inch dark metal alloy wheels and silver folding door mirrors with LED indicators to give a more aggressive look than the standard Koleos.

Moving up from the entry level Bose Special Edition is the four wheel-drive petrol for an extra $3500 before topping out with the 4WD 2.0-litre diesel for $39,490.

While it may not be one of the top selling mid-size SUVs in Australia, the Koleos has been slowly building sales momentum in the 10 months since its release in November last year.

The updated Koleos has helped boost Renault in Australia, with year-to-date sales of the Korean-built SUV up 49.9 per cent for the first eight months of this year.

August sales of the Koleos were up a massive 132.2 per cent compared with last year, with the facelift and Renault’s zero per cent finance deal that commenced at the start of August combining to increase sales.

Renault Australia’s line-up will get a further kick next year with the arrival of the highly anticipated Clio light car that Renault hopes will help triple local sales.
