A 2.0-LITRE 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine that produces 124kW at 6250rpm and 200Nm at 5400rpm powers the Clio Renault Sport. Claimed acceleration from rest to 100km/h is 7.3 sec, with the quarter mile reached in 15.3 sec and 1km in 28.0 sec. Top speed is 220km/h. Fuel consumption is not a strongpoint, with official European figures pointing to 10.5L/100km across the city cycle and 6.4L/100km on the highway. It also requires premium unleaded petrol. Power gains were achieved by enhancing the gas flow in the air intake manifold. The goal was to enable cylinders to inhale the largest possible quantity of air/petrol mixture, in order to increase the engine's specific power output.
