WHEN it came to giving the Cayman a mid-life facelift, Porsche decided to concentrate on the mechanical package rather than the styling. The result is a car that is hard to pick from the original, which was released only three years ago, but underneath are significant upgrades in the form of impressive all-new engines and an optional seven-speed dual-clutch manumatic transmission, as well as extra features like satellite-navigation. The result is an improved all-round vehicle that not only goes faster but uses less fuel and is kinder to the environment. More than being just a Boxster with a roof, the Cayman continues to shine as a cut-price 911 and, now with extra performance to go with the brilliant handling, ride and steering, further strengthens the Porsche brand.
